Public post boxes are also green. China and Egypt share the colour, but they lack widespread Street View and the scenery differs greatly. Box shapes vary across Ireland.

You will encounter many ⚠️ warning signs. Irish versions often omit the person, whereas the UK frequently shows a figure inside. If you see the figure, consider the UK; without it, Ireland is more likely. (Reference illustration is homemade!)

Road numbers begin with R, N, or M. The UK uses B, A, or M prefixes instead.

Watch for the red lighthouse . Fewer than 50 people live on the island.

The island’s official tourism site highlights tourism as the main industry. Look for fortress-like structures reminiscent of ruins.

If you see massive port facilities, assume the country’s most important harbour is nearby. Uruguay → Montevideo , Iceland → Reykjavík , Malta → the southern grand harbour , and so on.
