Borders often have a blue sign with the country name inside a ring of EU stars.

Customs or police station buildings are found near borders.

Roads or bridges sometimes have country abbreviations or a border line marked on them.

Signs showing the name of a city just across the border often have an oval country-code symbol attached.

The same oval country-code symbol is also used on stickers placed on cars.
